Research Interests

“Creation of novel pathological model animal by controlling the novel metabolic regulating gene Smek2”

Profile

Outline Activities

〇Research
My current main research theme is "Research on a novel pathogenic mechanism of hypercholesterolemia using animal models of the disease. I am elucidating the pathogenic mechanism of hypercholesterolemia through genetic analysis of exogenous hypercholesterolemia (ExHC) rats, which are a model animal for hypercholesterolemia. Currently, I am analyzing the function of the Smek2 gene, which was discovered in the process of identifying the causative gene. I am also working on the creation of a new animal model of the disease using Smek2.

〇Education
I mainly supervise graduate students for their master's thesis and doctoral dissertations. For undergraduate students, we provide thesis guidance and conduct student experiments.
