Bapon Dey (Bangladesh)

Ph.D. Fellow, MEXT Scholar
Laboratory of Functional Anatomy

Kyushu University is one of the leading universities in Asia and it was an excellent opportunity for me to be able to study in this top-ranked university with a prestigious MEXT scholarship. I did my Ph. D. in the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences under the International Development Research Course (IDRC). It is an excellent unique education and research program specially designed for international students. I belonged to the Laboratory of Functional Anatomy, Department of Bioresource Sciences and our laboratory was fully equipped with advanced scientific technologies. I have learned high-class techniques of molecular & cellular biology and behavioral experiments under the close supervision of the dynamic supervisory committee. My Japanese lab mates were so cooperative and helpful, they made my daily life smoother, and simply they were lovely guys. I presented my research findings at many national and international conferences, and the AChemS conference in the USA was the best one. I had a chance to meet a lot foreign students with diverse experiences, which broadened my network throughout the world. I was highly impressed by the quality of help from the International Student Support Center, who even took care my personal problems as well. Besides academic life, I also enjoyed the rich Japanese culture and enjoyed the Welcome Tea Ceremony, Nakagawa Machi Cultural Exchange, activities of KUFSA, and so on. I can never forget the love and affection of Kyushu University and hope the knowledge I gathered will help me to build my future in a better way.

Jithya Wijesinghe (Sri Lanka)

Asian Development Bank-Japanese Scholarship Programme (ADB- JSP)

I had a dream of pursuing advanced studies in a world-recognized University after my bachelor degree. Coming to Japan, was a turning point in my life which opened the doors to an international education environment via ADB - JSP. It is a great opportunity and honour to carry out research with the eminent researchers in Kyushu University under the International Development Research Course. Well-designed study program that integrates intensive courses, fieldtrips and seminars, good laboratory facilities with sophisticated analytical instruments; staff; opportunities to attend international conferences and international student support in the University help me to realize better academic achievements. Furthermore, my intellectual exposure in a country like Japan, with its great belief in research and evidence-based practice is unique, not least because of the opportunity of a lifetime to experience the distinct culture. In addition, the interaction with various nationalities during my stay in Japan is an exciting experience.

Le Thi Thanh LOAN (Vietnam)

Ph.D. Student, 911 Vietnamese government scholar
Environmental Economics Lab.

Kyushu University is a good chance for me to develop significantly my academic knowledge, skills, and experiences in the field of Agricultural and Resource Economics. The first thing that I have experienced here is strong support from professors who are leaders in the field. The professors impress me because they keep patience to encourage their students to work in the students' own ways. Moreover, I have found that the power of exchanging knowledge through laboratory' seminars every week has played an important role in enriching the students' knowledge. To me, opportunities to explore other case studies from lab mates as well as receiving the critical comments for my research during the seminars have supported me to grow as a research scientist. Furthermore, I did not really recognize about the crucial role of the senior students (senpai- in Japanese) until I studied in Japan. If you are junior student, do not hesitate to ask about the experience from your senpais in order to work in the most effective way. Last, but not least, being a student at the Graduate school of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences, I have had many chances to participate in domestic and international conferences, which can strongly support my career.
