Scholarships and Tuition Exemption

Financial stability and good health are essential for a meaningful university experience. For this reason, Kyushu University offers various scholarships and tuition waiver programs.

Scholarships

Listed below are some of the scholarships available. To learn more about scholarships for international undergraduate and graduate program applicants, please refer to the application guidelines as well.
There are also privately funded international scholarships available to international undergraduate and graduate students after they enter Kyushu University.

Tuition Fee Exemption

Tuition Fee Exemption is mainly for students who have difficulty in paying tuition due to financial reasons and who are recognized as having outstanding academic achievement.

If a student's financial situation will be the same in both the first and second semesters, he/she may apply for the second-semester tuition waiver at the same time as applying for the first-semester tuition waiver. However, please note that the selection process is conducted separately for each semester, so the results of the first-semester application may not necessarily be applied directly to the second-semester application.
It takes two to three months from the time of application to the time when the result of the tuition fee waiver is announced, so applicants should not pay tuition fees until then. Even if the applicant has completed the procedures for direct debits, direct debits will be automatically suspended during this period.
