Doctoral Degree Conferral Criteria

1.The criteria applicable to those who enroll in the doctoral program from the fiscal year 2025 onwards, and to those who submit their dissertation for the doctoral degree from the fiscal year 2025 onwards

The requirements for completing a doctoral course are based on Article 13 of the 'Regulations of the Graduate School of Bioresource and Environmental Studies, Kyushu University'. For those who meet the application qualifications for each major, the major and the Graduate School Faculty Council will conduct an examination and certification of completion based on the results of the examination of the doctoral dissertation and the final examination by three or more examiners (including an external examiner (*) for Kou) approved by the Graduate School Faculty Council.
The external examiner shall be selected from among suitable candidates from other departments, other graduate schools, or other institutions.
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, the requirement is that the dissertation has been published (accepted) in a peer-reviewed international academic journal, and the details are determined by each department (educational course).
In the examination of doctoral dissertations for Otsu, the requirement is that the dissertation has been published (accepted) in an academic journal, and the details are determined by each department (educational course).
Bioresource Sciences (Agrobiological Sciences)
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, it is necessary to have at least one achievement as the first author in a peer-reviewed international academic journal. Otsu is necessary to have at least five achievements (at least three as the first author) in peer-reviewed academic journals, including international academic journals, or to have achievements equivalent to these.
(Animal and Marine Biosciences)
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, it is necessary to have at least one achievement as the first author in a peer-reviewed international academic journal. Otsu is necessary to have at least five achievements (at least three as the first author) in academic journals, including peer-reviewed international academic journals, or to have achievements equivalent to this.

In addition, a doctoral student must obtain a total of 6 credits (2 credits from special experimental courses and 4 credits from elective courses) out of the 16 credits required for completion of the program.
