Doctoral Degree Conferral Criteria

1.The criteria applicable to those who enroll in the doctoral program from the fiscal year 2025 onwards, and to those who submit their dissertation for the doctoral degree from the fiscal year 2025 onwards
Graduate School of
Bioresource and
Bioenvironmental Sciences		 The requirements for completing a doctoral course are based on Article 13 of the 'Regulations of the Graduate School of Bioresource and Environmental Studies, Kyushu University'. For those who meet the application qualifications for each major, the major and the Graduate School Faculty Council will conduct an examination and certification of completion based on the results of the examination of the doctoral dissertation and the final examination by three or more examiners (including an external examiner (*) for Kou) approved by the Graduate School Faculty Council.
The external examiner shall be selected from among suitable candidates from other departments, other graduate schools, or other institutions.
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, the requirement is that the dissertation has been published (accepted) in a peer-reviewed international academic journal, and the details are determined by each department (educational course).
In the examination of doctoral dissertations for Otsu, the requirement is that the dissertation has been published (accepted) in an academic journal, and the details are determined by each department (educational course).
Bioresource Sciences （Agrobiological Sciences）
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, it is necessary to have at least one achievement as the first author in a peer-reviewed international academic journal. Otsu is necessary to have at least five achievements (at least three as the first author) in peer-reviewed academic journals, including international academic journals, or to have achievements equivalent to these.

In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, it is necessary to have at least one achievement as the first author in a peer-reviewed international academic journal. Otsu is necessary to have at least five achievements (at least three as the first author) in academic journals, including peer-reviewed international academic journals, or to have achievements equivalent to this.
However, as a characteristic of the field of animal and marine life sciences, the publication (acceptance) of research papers in peer-reviewed national academic journals for practical research towards social implementation is also included in this.
Agro-environmental Sciences （Forest Environmental Sciences）
In the examination of doctoral dissertations, for Kou, it is necessary to have at least one achievement as the first author in a peer-reviewed international academic journal. Otsu is necessary to have at least five achievements (at least three as the first author) in peer-reviewed academic journals.
However, as a characteristic of the field of forest environmental science, the research subjects range from domestic to overseas, so the inclusion of publication (acceptance) in national academic journals is also included in this.

However, as a characteristic of the field of production and environmental science, contributions to technological development aimed at solving various domestic issues are also recognised as valuable achievements, so this also includes publication (acceptance) in national academic journals that drive the international and advanced development of research related to agricultural and rural engineering, agricultural and food engineering, agricultural meteorology, soil science, etc.

Qualifications for Doctoral Degree Application

In addition, two credits of special laboratory courses must be obtained out of the 16 credits required for completion of the doctoral program.
Agro-environmental Sciences When submitting a doctoral dissertation, each educational course must confirm the achievements, thesis content, and examiners, and obtain their prior approval. In addition, a doctoral student must obtain a total of 6 credits (2 credits from special experimental courses and 4 credits from elective courses) out of the 16 credits required for completion of the program.
