"Water, heat, and solute movements in soils"
"Development of new soil moisture sensor"

Profile

Outline Activities

In the arid region, which occupied more than 40% of the land of the earth, water is a most important material for the plant growth. However, the scenario of global worming suggests the increase of draught conditions in the world. Also, it suggests the increase of extremely heavy rain events in the future, which may induce the severe damage of agricultural products by ill-drainage. I would like to find the methods to solve these problems by analyzing soil water, solutions, and heat movements in soils. I also conduct the research to achieve decarbonized society by using renewable energy with the geothermal heat pump system, biochar, etc.

Message

By conducting research, we sometimes find an interesting phenomenon, which cannot be explained by the well-known theories, which can be learned by text books. When I find this kind of phenomenon, I think that our scientific knowledge is still incomplete and there are many things to do by researchers. This kind of experience may not be obtained by learning only textbook. Even though our findings itself may not largely influence to the society, I believe that the accumulation of these small findings will contribute to establish better society near future.
