Research Interests

My research topics mainly focuse on myogenic stem cell biology contributing for meat sciences.

"The study of the mechanisms about the autonomous myofiber type determination by myogenic stem cells"
"The search study about myogenic stem cell population which can promote muscular hypertrophy efficiently in adult animals and muscle sites"
"The novel platform for the autonomous regulatory system of muscular hypertrophy by multi-functional modulators synthesized in myogenic stem cells"

Profile

Outline Activities

My research field is skeletal muscle cell biology focusing on myogenic stem cells (satellite cells). I aim to contribute to the fields of Animal Science (especially Meat Science) and Health and Sports Science by applying the scientific information gained from new findings.
Satellite cells are resident myogenic stem cells positioned beneath the basal lamina of mature myofibers. These cells differentiate to form nascent myofibers (myotubes) or fuse to pre-existed myofibers during skeletal muscle formation, hypertrophy and regeneration. Numerous studies focusing on cell dynamics such as quiescence, activation, proliferation, and differentiation, have shown that satellite cells also exhibit functional heterogeneities. My research topics have directly focused on characterization of satellite cells comparing in myofiber types, muscle sites, and individual animals. Recently, we found that satellite cells could autonomously regulate their differentiation capabilities and myofiber types according to the localizations. Now, we search about the molecular mechanisms how satellite cells acquire their potential focusing on “cell-positional memories”.
