“Upstream regulatory mechanisms for rice seed storage components”
“Developing analytical methods to elucidate genetic mechanisms of rice traits regulation”

Profile

Outline Activities

We are currently working on molecular regulatory mechanisms that cause a huge trait-variation in rice genetic resources including mutants and local varieties. In addition, we are investigating upstream regulatory mechanisms of rice seed storage components, that decide the quality of rice as a crop, in particular that related to plant hormone auxin. Moreover, to most use out of rice genetic resources, we are developing methods to effectively elucidate genetic regulatory mechanisms of rice traits.

Message

A rich genetic resource of rice has been created until today, this contains many genetic lines that have not been analyzed yet. Therefore, rice research has a great potential of finding new genetic mechanisms. Not only that we eat it as a main food, bult also rice is a very interesting plant as a model.
