Research Interests

"Analysis of genetic mechanisms regulating rice seed storage substances"
"Functional analysis of genes involved in rice reproductive development and trait diversity"
"Development of rice mutant lines and characterization of rice genetic resources"

Profile

Outline Activities

Using rice as material, we are studying genes and their regulatory mechanisms involved in reproductive development to seed formation. For seed formation, we are particularly focusing on the genetic mechanisms of starch, protein, and other storage components that affect rice quality. We are also investigating how plants adapt to and evolve in various environments by studying the genes and mechanisms of rice plants for various environmental adaptations.

Message

Rice in Japan's rice paddies is only a small group of the rice species. If you are interested in the diversity of rice and would like to be involved in the study of its genetic mechanisms, please come visit or join us.
