Outline Activities

〇Research
I am conducting field research on the cultivation of forest resources and their utilization based on the basic principle of harmonizing global environmental conservation and forest resource utilization.
The main research topics currently being undertaken are:
1. Research on variation in wood properties of Cinnamomum camphora, Quercus crispula var. crispula from natural and plantation forests, and invaded tree species.
2. Developing of X-ray equipment for living tree.
3. Research on effect of barking to obtain “hiwada”, which is roof material of a wooden cultural property, on growth and wood properties of Chamaecyparis obtsusa.
4. Utilization of woody biomass from forest residue as a energy resource, and evaluation of tree-stem carbon stocks in various tree species.
5. Collecting data on traditional wood use in Shiiba Village and other local area and assessment.
6. Survey on the education, research and forest management conducted at former University forest.

〇Education
In the graduate school, lectures are given to students of the Graduate School of Forest Environmental Sciences, and in the undergraduate school, lectures and practices are given to students of the Forestry and Forest Products Course, and lectures are given to first or second year students of Kikan education.
Research guidance is also provided for high school students in the “Kyushu University Project for the Development of Future Scientists (QFC-SP) Bio&Life Course”.

〇Social activities
Lecturer of extension lecture and so on. I am conducting joint researches with other organizations.
