Profile

Outline Activities

I am conducting empirical research on the environmental value of natural resources in Japan and other countries, on the effective use of biomass resources, on the natural regeneration of marginal farmland and the continuation of agriculture, and on the economic value assessment of the multiple functions of agriculture and forestry such as biodiversity and agro-cultural systems. I am also developing methods for this purpose, conducting comparative research on agro-environmental policies in Japan, Europe, and the United States, and conducting economic analysis on quantitative analysis of consumer awareness regarding food safety, security, and traceability.
In recent years, to contribute to the construction of a low-carbon, recycling-oriented society and the supply of renewable energy, I have conducted research on the production of concentrated bio-liquid fertilizer (Bio-CLF), in which the three major fertilizer components are separated and concentrated from methane fermentation digested liquid, and its cultivation and use, including hydroponics. Since FY2023, we have been engaged in empirical research on the production and utilization of recycled sewage phosphorus and Bio-CLF in Hita City, as well as research on the production of high value-added agricultural products using these organic solid and concentrated liquid fertilizers for cultivation of arable crops and institutional horticultural crop.

Message

I have focused on research on how to make the best use of the positive and negative externalities associated with agricultural production within the framework of a market economy. Recently, I have been focusing on Bio-CLF.
