Profile

Outline Activities

Efforts are being made to improve the sustainability of industry around the world, and there is a strong need for agricultural production activities to be more sustainable. The reason is that the benefits of agricultural production activities are closely connected to people's daily food and lifestyle. In order to ensure that farmland and agricultural irrigation facilities, etc. that have been built and managed by many local governments and agricultural stakeholders over a long history are passed on to the next generation in usable condition, strategic conservation and management of these agricultural resources is necessary. I am engaged in research that contributes to improving farmland conservation technology and ground deformation prediction technology so that the farmland that has supported Japan's food production will continue to serve as the farmland production base that will enable sustainable agricultural production for the next 50 years. The contents can be broadly divided into research (1) soil science and engineering properties of soil as a mechanical material, (2) deformation prediction and stability evaluation of agricultural structures in soft clay ground, and (3) development of environmentally friendly construction techniques.
