Profile

Outline Activities

My research aims to optimize bioremediation and bioproduction by studying the design and control of microorganisms or complex microbial communities. To this end, I analyze the behavior of synthetic microbial communities and the cell-level heterogeneity within a single species to understand how microorganisms organize themselves and perform their functions. In addition to conventional batch culture, I combine chemostat culture and microfluidic systems to analyze microbial interactions, metabolites, and the relationship between cell distribution and metabolism at the single-cell level.

Message

Microorganisms have been utilized in various fields in recent years. However, their potential is not fully utilized in these technologies. I would like to maximize their functions through complete control of microorganisms and that community. To establish stable and robust biotechnologies, I am studying microbial interactions, metabolism and heterogeneity of a single population.
