Outline Activities
"Why are animals born?" Can we show a definitive answer to this question?
Animal development begins with fertilization of an egg by sperm. On the other hand, development also begins when an egg receives a nucleus from an adult cell (such as a skin cell). We have been pursuing this reprogramming ability of eggs, which is the key to this amazing phenomenon. Currently, our laboratory is also developing new technologies for various scientific fields such as animal breeding, reproductive medicine, and aging by taking advantage of our achievements and knowledge related to reprogramming studies.
