Functional Anatomy

Research on homeostatic mechanisms of glycosaminoglycans and sex hormones in connective tissues and locomotive organs (bone, tendon, and muscle), and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders by regulating proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration of tissue stem cells through application of the functions of these factors.

Research Interests

1. Elucidation of regulatory mechanisms and functions of extracellular matrix
2. Changes in glycan structure and composition during aging and differentiation and their factors
3. Mechanisms of qualitative and quantitative maintenance of locomotor organs by sex hormones

Based on histology, fluorescence imaging using cultured cells, and molecular biology, we are studying the cellular characteristics of endocrine organs in livestock and poultry, and the regulation of collagen synthesis in muscle and skin.
