Professor: Katakura Yoshinori
Associate Professor:
Assistant Professor: Teruya Kiichiro

Research Interests

1. Elucidation of molecular mechanisms of aging and life span regulation and their application to anti-aging drug discovery
2. Exploration of factors involved in antioxidant stress and their application to clinical food functional engineering

The main goal of our research is to elucidate the mechanisms of functional differentiation of higher animal cells and to establish cellular and genetic engineering methods to arbitrarily control the expression of differentiated functions. The results obtained from this research are expected to make important contributions to the elucidation of genetic diseases, immunology, neurological functions, and metabolic abnormalities. However, we are not only interested in the elucidation of these phenomena, but also in the application of the results obtained through this research to the fields of biotechnology and medicine.
