Research Interests

1. Development and utilization of genome (DNA) editing and transcriptome (RNA) editing technologies.
Our research is focused on the improvement and the use of our unique DNA/RNA editing techniques based on PPR protein.
The detailed research subjects are,
- Transcriptome editing: basic research and therapeutic application of long non-coding RNA and translation in mammalian cells.
- Genome editing: Production of useful crops.

2. Analysis of the coordinate gene expression among the nucleus, chloroplasts, and mitochondria in plants.
Our research is focused on how three genomes in the nucleus, chloroplasts, and mitochondria coordinate the expression to maintain plants as a single biological system.
The detailed research subjects are,
- Functional analysis of organelle gene expression using genome editing.
- Research on cytoplasmic male sterility, and its application.
