Synthetic Biology

Synthetic biology is a research field that artificially integrates the superior functions of different organisms to create artificial organisms that enrich our lives. We are promoting research to synthetically construct new microorganisms that produce useful substances at high efficiency without compromising resource recycling by utilizing the knowledge of synthetic biology.

Research Interests

1. Bio-alcohol production through the construction of synthetic metabolic pathways
2. Construction of synthetic gene circuits
3. Construction of synthetic complex microbial systems
4. Mathematical analysis of E. coli metabolic system
5. Application of machine learning in biotechnology

Aiming at the new development and application of synthetic biology, we are constructing a wide variety of "synthetic gene circuits that control gene expression and function" consisting of multiple biomolecules based on knowledge and technologies of genetic recombination, metabolic engineering, culture engineering, and computer science to optimize synthetic metabolic pathways that produce useful substances, and promoting the development of fundamental technologies to realize biorefineries using microbial populations and their applications.
