Research Interests

1. Agro-environmental policies in developed countries and East Asian countries
2. Biomass recycling, renewable energy, and greenhouse gas emission reduction in East Asian countries
3. Research on healthy society and sustainable development
4. Research on market evaluation of agricultural products with new value

We conduct economics-based research to pursue the new possibilities of agriculture and farming villages. In other words, in addition to food production, agriculture and farming villages have diverse values, including the circulation of organic matter, the supply of renewable energy, the provision of beautiful landscapes and places of relaxation, the preservation of diverse flora and fauna, and the transmission of traditional culture and the wisdom of our ancestors. Therefore, we conduct research and education to ensure that a recycling-oriented society is built on healthy and safe lifestyles, while identifying more important social needs. For example, we are investigating agro-environmental policies around the world, developing economic evaluation methods for environmental and welfare services, creating a recycling-oriented society based on self-sustaining and decentralized energy systems, building institutions for maintaining agricultural and cultural systems, evaluating markets for products with new values, and preventing infectious diseases and sustainable rural development in developing countries, and so on. We are engaged in a wide variety of research and educational activities from a socioeconomic perspective with the keywords of environment, health, and bioenergy.
