Crop Science
With a purpose to improve yield and quality of grains for rice, wheat, barley, soybean and cowpea, members of crop science laboratory investigate mechanisms of environmental stress response in the crops by using methods from plant physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology and morphology
Research Interests
1. Rice: "Building Rice Cultivation Technologies that Can Survive Global Environmental Change".
2. Barley and wheat "Toward the stable production of high-yield and high-quality wheat
3. Soybean "Improving yield and quality
4. Cowpea "Why cowpea, an ultra-drought tolerant crop? Understanding the Why of Cowpea, an Ultra-Drought Tolerant Crop
5. Yams "Exploring the "actors" controlling tuber growth and quality
Our laboratory is dedicated to research on environmental stress and crop production for stable and sustainable crop production under global environmental change, using a variety of experimental techniques including crop science, molecular biology, and morphology to support future food supply.
