Research Interests

1. Environmental response of crop physiological and ecological unctions
2. Environmental regulation and smart agriculture
3. Climate change impact assessment and adaptation research

The need to improve the efficiency of agricultural production and to realize highly adaptable, sustainable, and profitable food production in the future, even under the threat of frequent inappropriate environments (high temperatures, low temperatures, heavy rainfall, typhoons, water shortages, etc.) associated with climate change. To this end, it is extremely important to understand the physical and physiological phenomena and mechanisms of plant-environment systems that are closely related to plant growth, and to develop knowledge and technologies to optimize these phenomena. From this viewpoint, we, in the Laboratory of Agricultural Meteorology, view the climatic environment from the viewpoint of the organisms of production objects, and we are working on the campus of Kyushu University (laboratories, greenhouses, and fields) and in rural areas such as Itoshima and Kyushu, and also collaborating with other universities, prefectural and national research institutes to develop knowledge and techniques for understanding environmental responses of physiological and ecological functions in crops, and for the development of high quality, high-yield, and environmentally-friendly products. We are also conducting research on environmental regulation and smart agriculture for high quality, high yield, and environmental conservation, as well as climate change impact assessment and adaptation measures.
