Research Interests

1. Mineralogical, chemical, and engineering properties of marine clays
2. Settlement prediction and stability evaluation of agricultural structures on soft clay ground
3. Research on agricultural disaster prevention, agricultural land conservation, and coastal conservation
4. Research on remediation of contaminated soil
5. Research on development of environmentally friendly construction technology

For stable food production, it is necessary to develop and preserve farmland and maintain agricultural civil engineering structures (waterways, embankments, etc.). In addition, social interest in environmental conservation and effective use of resources is increasing around the world, and there is a need for the development of sustainable conservation methods that take the surrounding environment into consideration.
In our laboratory, we are engaged in educational research to elucidate the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of soils constituting the ground and to apply them to the design and construction of structures and the conservation of agricultural land, as well as to the use of soil materials to control the discharge of contaminants and the remediation of contaminated soil.
In recent years, we have also been engaged in research and development of soil improvement and remediation technologies through effective use of wastes and microbial metabolic functions, aiming to develop a new research field that integrates geo-environmental engineering and other fields.
