Irrigation and Water Management

Irrigation is used to control soil moisture conditions optimal for crop growth. In recent years, farmland has become more generalized (i.e., farmland that used to be paddy fields can now be used as fields), and ensuring drainage has become a major issue when paddy fields, which do not drain well to begin with, are used as fields. Thus, irrigation and drainage are inextricably linked. In this laboratory, we are researching the knowledge and technologies necessary to ensure field moisture conditions suitable for both paddy and field crops, from both "irrigation" and "field drainage" perspectives.

Research Interests

1. Soil moisture environment suitable for crop cultivation in agricultural land
2. Water dynamics and water management in agricultural and rural areas
3. Efficient water use and flood control measures in watersheds
4. Multi-function and other-purpose use of agricultural land and agricultural water use facilities

Our laboratory does not end our research with research, but rather designs and aims to realize the future of agricultural and rural communities. We will conduct a wide range of research themes, taking into account current and potential future issues, and present ideas for implementing the results of each theme in the field, in order to communicate a vision for the future of agricultural and rural communities.
