The "Japan Open Innovation Awards" is a new award that was implemented in 2018, replacing the "Awards for Distinguished Achievements in Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration" that has been implemented for the past 15 years with the "Japan Open Innovation Awards". The award recognizes pioneering or creative initiatives that serve as role models to further promote open innovation and accelerate the creation of innovation in Japan. The award was presented to Professor Takahiro Kusakabe and his team for their project entitled "Practical Application of Oral Vaccine and Feed Additive for Pigs. The oral vaccine and feed additive aims to reduce losses caused by killing of pigs and significantly improve productivity of pig farmers, etc. The project was highly evaluated as an example of open innovation in which a large-scale organization takes on the role of developing a value chain and supply chain of a university venture worldwide, starting from basic university research. The award was highly acclaimed. The award ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. (Online streaming / Free of charge)
