Professor Emeritus Mitsuhiro Furuse

After serving as an assistant at the Nagoya University Faculty of Agriculture and an associate professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, he became a professor at the Faculty of Agriculture of Kyushu University in March 2000.

Professor Emeritus Mitsuhiro Furuse (formerly Professor, Faculty of Agriculture) received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in the fall of 2022.

Over the years, he has devoted himself to education and research in animal science, especially nutrition and behavior, and has also contributed to the improvement of human health. His research achievements are wide-ranging, and he is particularly noted for his studies on feeding, stress, and sleep behavior, and his elucidation of the ameliorative effects of nutrients on mental distress, such as stress and sleep disorders. In addition, he was highly evaluated for his work in reducing the negative effects of intestinal bacteria and for showing new developments in the elucidation of the functions of nutrients.
