Dear motivated IUP students,

We accept 2025 Dual-Degree Program (DDP) applications with Northern Arizona University (NAU).

DualーDegree Program with Northern Arizona University

The application period is from January 14 (Tues.) to January 27 (Mon.), with a January 27, 2025, deadline.

Applications are open to second-year IUP students only.

Selection of Entrants:

1.GPA Requirements:3.0 or higher
2.English proficiency Requirements:
If English is not your native language, you must provide proof of English proficiency from one of the following testing agencies:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-iBT) 70 or higher
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6.0 or higher

The TOEFL/IELTS may be waived*
If you are a native speaker of English. Native speakers are considered applicants who are from and have completed a high school or university education at an institution in an English-speaking country.

3.Application Form:
The application form can be downloaded from this page, the DD Q&A site on Moodle, or obtained from the Office of Student Affairs. Please read the instructions carefully, fill in the required information, prepare the necessary documents, and submit them on paper to the Student Affairs Division of the Faculty of Agriculture (West Zone 5, Room 332a).

Dual Degree (DD) Program for IUP students

What does this mean?
IUP students are eligible to enroll in the DD program, which allows them to earn a second degree from Northern Arizona University during their undergraduate studies at Kyushu University. The international dual degree requires thoughtful planning to ensure you are on track to earn your two degrees.

Degrees you will get:
・B.S. in Agriculture(Kyushu University)126.5 credits (94.5 KU credits + 32 NAU credits)
・B.S. in Biology(Northern Arizona University) 120 credits (90 KU credits + 30 NAU credits)

Program length:
Four years (including one year at NAU)

Course Requirements:

  1. 32 of the 82 credits in Specialized Courses must be taken at Northern Arizona University.
  2. Fulfill graduation requirements in the remaining Specialized Courses (Technical Communication, Tutorial, Common Basic and Specialized Subjects, Laboratory Subjects, Fieldwork Practice Subjects, and Thesis).
  3. Graduation research must be conducted at Kyushu University, and the graduation thesis must be completed and assessed.

How much extra will it cost to earn a 2nd degree?
They estimated $18,368 per year (as of 2024).
Tuition fees for Northern Arizona University are waived. However, students must pay all the other fees, such as housing, meals, books & supplies, mandatory health insurance, mandatory student fees, and so on.
