The Signing Ceremony of Academic Agreement between the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University and Forestry Department Sarawak, Malaysia was held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Forestry Department Sarawak is the government organization that manages the forests of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is an organization that manages important resources and also has a research organization.

Runi Anak Sylvester Pungga (Head of Research and Development Division), Mr. Ricky Anak Jonathan Alek (Head of planning and management division), Hajah Salina Binti Haji Hamdi (Head of Project Development Division), Dr. Malcom Anak Demies (Senior Research Officer of Planning and Management Division), Mdm. After the signing ceremony, a symposium was held to discuss the activities of the Sarawak Forest Department and research conducted at Kyushu University, etc. On the 24th, the participants visited the Kyushu Forest Department and the Kyushu Breeding Station of the Forest Tree Breeding Center, where they had a lively exchange of opinions.
Sarawak aims to achieve global recognition for sustainable management of tropical forests and biodiversity conservation while promoting the rapid growth of its timber industry. This agreement is expected to promote research activities, including the assessment of forest ecosystems in Sarawak, such as carbon sequestration functions, and to work together to address and solve global environmental problems.
