The Academic Resource Disclosure Office of the Faculty of Agriculture is now open to the public.
The Faculty of Agriculture at Kyushu University has accumulated valuable materials and specimens over its more than 100-year history. These include many specimens from the South Seas, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and other foreign countries. These collections are widely used in environmental science and in the creation of new industries using the specimens. By making these valuable physical materials available to the public and exhibiting them, we hope to deepen learning in agricultural education and lifelong learning. Therefore, in collaboration with the Kyushu University Museum , two galleries have been newly established in the West Zone 5 of Ito Campus. Together with the existing foyer exhibition, the galleries will be open to the public both inside and outside the university. The opening to the public is Friday, March 1, 2024.
Gallery119(East Wing 1 Room):Mainly plants
FU, a herbarium (botanical herbarium) internationally registered in 1928, will be open to the public. For the first time in nearly 80 years, the world-renowned crop leaf and fruit specimens and wood specimens collected by the late Professor Ryozo Kanehira, a prewar forestry scientist, have been brought together in one place. In this gallery, botanical specimens and the history of research behind them, as well as plant-related research and materials at The Faculty of Agriculture, will be exhibited. The retro wooden fixtures used as specimen shelves and display cabinets are also a highlight.
Gallery219(Room 219, 2nd floor, West Wing):Insects, Animals, Algae
It includes the insect collection collected by the late Professor Teizo Esaki and the late Professor Kyozo Yasumatsu at the time of the founding of the Entomology Department, stuffed animals collected by the late Professor Yoshikuni Hiraiwa and the late Professor Teruaki Uchida, some fish specimens collected by the late Professor Keitaro Uchida, and algae specimens used in an illustrated book written by the late Professor Sokichi Segawa. Also on display is the desk actually used by Professor Esaki.

Old nameplates of the Faculty of Agriculture and panels introducing its research are on display for some time. Visitors will also enjoy the dynamic graphics used in the Centennial Exhibit.
