Community Development through the Insect Industry
Kyushu University is home to some of Japan's top insect researchers. Meanwhile, Kama City has identified "creating attractive employment opportunities that support a rich lifestyle" as a key challenge to counteract population decline in areas at risk of disappearing. In the 2021 Kyushu University Industry-Academia-Government-Civil Collaboration Seminar Regional Policy Design School, Kama City presented its policy to promote community development as a hub for the insect industry through industry-academia-government-civil collaboration, initiating exchanges between the two parties. The Kyushu University Insect Science and Creative Entomology Center signed a collaboration agreement with Kama City to mutually cooperate using insects, marking the start of Kama City's insect industry initiatives.
